After a recent acquisition, Colonial Chemical Solutions’ warehouse located in Charlotte, NC needed some tender loving care. Colonial Chemical Solutions is a full-service, chemical distribution and logistics company, and in order to more efficiently serve its customers, the company needed to renovate the warehouse and bring it up to NFPA standards.
Choate Interior Construction Company managed the renovations of the roughly 82,000 square-foot warehouse and A&K Painting was the subcontractor. A&K Painting used Induron products to restore and recoat the metal ceiling that showed extensive corrosion. For this project, E-Bond 100 was paired with Induramastic 85 to create an effective 2-coat primer system for corrosive metal surfaces that have limited surface preparation.
E-Bond 100’s properties made it the perfect primer sealant for this project. Specifically, the very low surface tension and penetrating properties of E-Bond 100 enable it to bond with rust, penetrate discontinuities and holidays in old coatings, and provide exceptional adhesion to any aged, corroded or rusted substrate, like the ceiling of the warehouse.
Likewise, Induramastic 85 is a high-build, surface-tolerant epoxy formulated for excellent adhesion to clean steel, rusted steel, weathered galvanizing, wood, concrete and most existing cured coatings, which makes it ideal for overcoating projects like this one. Two coats of Induramastic 85 will outperform most conventional coating systems that routinely require costly blast cleaning. Jeff White, our General Manager, claims this job was “the biggest Induramastic 85 order I’ve ever seen.”
We enjoyed working with Choate Interior Construction Company and A&K Painting to complete this renovation and hope Colonial Chemical Solutions is happy with the finished product!
