The right coatings and an experienced applicator brought an old-style “Cone – Top Tank” located in Formoso, Kansas out of the past and into the future!
Established in 1889 and near Salina, Kansas, the town of Formoso boasts 93 people and .28 miles of land, according to its last census. Surrounded by grain silos, the town’s 50,000 gallon cone-top water tower was in need of some repairs and a coatings upgrade to best represent their community.
Induron and Tankspek, Inc. teamed up to bring the tank into the future. The two owners of Tankspek, Inc. have been “paint-people” for most of their careers and joined together to start Tankspek just a few years ago bringing decades of experience with them. Being a “paint-person” for all of my career, I love working with quality-conscience craftsmen like these guys.
About 2-3 years ago, I spoke with them about the wide range of products we had to offer for the type of work they were doing. Induron’s Indurlux 7600 Acrylic Siloxane caught their attention. Indurlux 7600 is a single component, high performance, high gloss, acrylic polysiloxane finish coat. It is an exceptional coating that provides a polyurethane-like finish with outstanding weatherability, gloss and color retention.
Tankspek was very interested to give it a try, so we coated a smaller tank, and their team loved it! They even made a few comments that the “gloss in the dry film still looked wet!” This initial project sparked a relationship with them and led to dozens of projects using this amazing coating.
