Transmission Economics

By: Andy Odorzynski, Induron National Sales Manager

This week it was announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued new guidelines on how the power grid must be scaled aggressively to accommodate the demands of the future. This new guidance should ensure funding is available to connect green energy sources, like wind and solar to the grid, thus ensuring that power can be transferred from the regions where it can be efficiently generated to the point of demand.  However, these actions fail to address one major gap in all of our future models of the grid: the decay of what we already have.  Continue reading Transmission Economics

Rehabilitating a 500,000-Gallon Leg Water Tank in Park Forest, IL

Rehabilitating a 500,000-Gallon Leg Water Tank in Park Forest, IL

By: Rob Burckley, Induron Technical Sales and Service Representative

Water tanks often require rehabilitation due to various factors that affect their structural integrity and functionality over time. One key reason is corrosion, which can occur due to the exposure of tank materials to water and environmental elements, leading to deterioration of the tank’s surface and structural components. This corrosion weakens the tank’s ability to contain water safely and efficiently. This is often when a team steps in to rehabilitate the water tank. By undergoing rehabilitation, water tanks can be restored to optimal condition, ensuring reliable water storage, improved water quality, and extended lifespan of the infrastructure. A 500,000-gallon elevated water tank in Park Forest, Illinois was in need of rehabilitation for these exact reasons. Completing Circles: Visiting the Continental Gin Company’s Facility

By: Davies Hood, Induron President

Four years ago, Induron had the opportunity to provide the coatings materials for an epic water tank rehabilitation project in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.

Not only was this cone-top water tank repainted by a noteworthy Graffiti artist Shep Fairley with materials that were all delivered and applied from an aerosol can (extremely unique in the water tank market!), but this tank repaint was also recognized by “The Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings” as one of the nation’s Top Projects of 2021.  Continue reading Completing Circles: Visiting the Continental Gin Company’s Facility

A Partnership Built on Trust

By: Andy Odorzynski, Induron National Sales Manager

Visit with Dixon EngineeringLong before our products are applied to a structure, our partners in the business of specifying coatings must select the right technology for the project and write it into a specification. I believe this is best handled through deep partnership and open communication. It is with that spirit in mind that we recently hosted our friends from Dixon Engineering at our headquarters Birmingham, AL.  Continue reading A Partnership Built on Trust

Choosing the Best Defense: A Comparative Analysis of Two Protective Coating Systems for Wash Water Tanks

Water tanks play a critical role in ensuring a reliable and safe water supply for communities, industries, and agriculture. To maintain their longevity and structural integrity, protective coating systems are essential. However, not all coatings are created equal, and selecting the right one is crucial for the tank’s performance and durability. Introducing Novasafe: A New NOVALAC Epoxy for Rehabilitation of Steel and Concrete in Extreme Wastewater Environments

By: William Seawell, Induron Protective Coatings Director of Technical Service

Novasafe

In the current regulatory and financial climate, water utilities are increasing their focus on the state of their currently in-service treatment plant assets, including aeration basins, clarifiers, grit chambers, chlorine contact basins etc. All these assets have an increasingly apparent need for linings and corrosion solutions that can be installed on site. Likewise, in a period of increased influent volume, more chemically extreme influent, and increasing regulatory pressure, there is a rising need for immersion coating maintenance in treatment plants.
