What Cycle Count Says About Teamwork

By John Anspach, VP of Operations

Last week, I spoke about the importance of cycle count in terms of efficiency.  Our numbers are consistently low, and that’s something we are especially proud of around here.

The final numbers are in, and I can say that annually, our cycle count has been at .25 or less since 2007. That’s 5 years running. So how did we get and keep our numbers so low?

I can sum it up in one word: communication.

Our paint is made great by three teams: Paint Makers in our production department, the technical folks in the lab and quality control. Internally, these departments have a genuine respect for each other’s work. They have trusted relationships that allow for feedback. Continue reading What Cycle Count Says About Teamwork

The Good Old Days are Still Here at Induron

John Snow (left) & Willie Brown

by David Hood, Induron CEO

An old friend came by the other day and I really enjoyed seeing him. He reminded me of old times and the funny stories which run throughout Induron’s history. I won’t bore you with any of them here, but they are an important part of who we are as a company and as a group of friends.

John Snow, the gentleman on the left in this photo, worked here from 1956 until he retired in 1994. He clearly has good feelings toward his experience or he wouldn’t come by just to talk and re-live old times. Now, 38 years is a long time to be with one company. But the guy to John’s left is Willie Brown, who has been at Induron for 40 years. (We did a profile on Willie a few months ago on this blog.) And Willie’s dad, John, worked here also. How to Keep Employees Happy

By Davies Hood, Induron President

As an executive in a small business, I certainly don’t claim to have all the answers on how to “keep employees happy.” However, when I think about it, I think I know someone who does – Ric Michaels, my first grade teacher.

Now, I’m not comparing Induron’s (or your!) employees to first graders. But I am saying that keeping employees – or any other group of people – happy and productive requires the things we all learned, or should have learned, very early in life from a good role model.  Continue reading How to Keep Employees Happy

Meet Part of The Induron Family: Willie Brown

The greatest asset a company can have is dedicated employees. And it’s the time of year when we’re especially thankful for our long-term employees who go above and beyond every day. We’d like to introduce you an employee who has been here nearly four decades – Willie Brown.

“I’ve worked all over the Induron plant,” Willie said. “Now, I drive the delivery truck and work in the warehouse.” He’s been working at Induron for 38 years, and loves his job. Continue reading Meet Part of The Induron Family: Willie Brown
