The first of many annual ACE American Water Works Association (AWWA) Conventions occurred for me over 30 years ago. It was held in San Francisco. Although I worked at the time for a small, very regional, paint manufacturing company, Pennsbury Coatings, it was decided that I should participate in that meeting.
This decision was made because our largest customer, The Philadelphia Suburban Water Company, was sending a large group of conventioneers, and I was tasked to make sure they remembered our special relationship.
This is one of the great reasons why attending this meeting is so important, and why Induron attends every year. It gives us a chance to demonstrate to our customers that we are, in fact, very special and show them why. It gives us a chance to treat them in a way not possible locally.
Last year’s convention especially stands out in my mind. Induron had just a 10’ x 10’ booth and four people manning that booth, but we managed to, not only successfully target our six most important customers, but also demonstrate our three newest and most innovative products to the rest of those attending. The biggest key to the success we had last year was the preparation we put into it. I have been to over 35 of these meetings and this was, by far, the most successful one in which I have ever participated.
We also always try to walk the exhibit floor to see what our competition is offering, renew and maintain other acquaintances developed over the years and participate in committees that enhance the industry. Most importantly¸ participating in ACE enables us to keep our fingers on the pulse of one of the most critical industries that exists in this country. I have been to more than 35 ACE conventions, and I hope to continue to participate in them for a few more years, at least, including this year.
In fact, Induron is enjoying the conference this week in Anaheim, California – attending meetings, participating in committees, spending quality time with our customers and exhibiting at booth #1846. For those who are attending as well, we hope you’ll stop by and say hello!
